Oft-cited, this book is fun to read (there's translations in English and many other languages) to get a sense of ancient military thinking and also glean a few constants in war, politics, and human interaction that have stayed largely unchanged even to this day.

Is it any wonder that this treatise was written during one of the most seminal and formative periods of Chinese history (Zhou), which preceded the first period of unification / consolidation in Chinese History (Qin)? << less
